United Kingdom

Every dollars plants one tree.

Over the years, the United Kingdom has undergone significant deforestation. In order to allocate your donation efficiently, we are currently focused on restoring forests across these lands. Learn more

With your help, we will:

  • Invite educational opportunities by engaging local schools
  • Create publicly accessible woodlands for community spaces
  • Increase forest connectivity for native biodiversity

Since tree planting costs are higher in the United Kingdom, we plant one tree for every $2 USD donated.

  • The United Kingdom used to have glorious forest coverage, but changes in land use have caused extensive deforestation. In addition to being critical to protecting the climate, forests also build community. These reforestation projects will be highly engaging, community-led initiatives to create educational opportunities, volunteer planting events, and public spaces so that everyone, including the most marginalized communities, can enjoy the native flora and fauna of the United Kingdom.

As tree planting costs are higher in the United Kingdom, we have aligned our costs to ensure we're creating an impact. We plant one tree for every $2 USD donated.

  • These more than one million trees will make a significant climate impact, sequestering carbon and creating climate resilience by reducing flooding and the effects of pollution. This project supports increased access to public woodland, especially for communities in need, with opportunities for community engagement and improved public health. Organizations will be able to integrate the project with school education to get children out in nature.
  • A personalized tree certificate (see gallery) to say thanks for your donation. We'll also send you reports on our United Kingdom projects, so you can track the impact your trees are having on the community and environment.
  • As to maximize the overall benefit to the area, we will plant native trees such as Pedunculate/Common Oak, Downy Birch, Hazel, Hawthorn, Small-leaved lime, Rowan, Silver Birch, Common Alder, Aspen, Goat Willow, Field Maple, Hornbeam, Beech, and Blackthorn.

Educational Opportunities

Educational Opportunities

Planting trees allows opportunities to support educational partners through projects such as Forest School and Woodland Outreach which help to connect children to nature.

Community Spaces

Community Spaces

Reforestation increases opportunities for community engagement by supporting better levels of health and wellbeing, especially in areas of greatest health inequality.

Forest Connectivity

Forest Connectivity

Restoring forest cover enhances habitats for wildlife and biodiversity by providing shade and reducing the heat island effect and by improving water and air quality.
